Who is responsible
The data controller is Mediahuset i Göteborg AB, Gothenburg, Sweden (“Mediahuset”, “we”). Questions about your data can be sent via mediahuset.se.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google.
- Preferences: chosen specialties and newsletter subscription.
- Professional profile (optional): profession, workplace and country.
- Usage statistics (only with consent): pages viewed, clicks to sources, a random visit ID and the country derived from your connection. We do not store IP addresses.
- Feedback: your accuracy votes and flags on summaries.
Why we use it
- To provide the service and your personalised feed — contract.
- To send the weekly digest you asked for — consent; unsubscribe with one click in every email.
- To understand our audience in aggregate, e.g. how many readers are physicians in a given specialty or country, to improve content and to describe our readership to advertisers — legitimate interest. Advertisers only ever see aggregated figures, never individual data.
- Business contacts: we may email healthcare professionals at their work address about mediqnews — legitimate interest. You can opt out at any time via the link in the email.
Sharing
We never sell personal data. We use processors to run the service: our hosting and database provider and Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, EU) for email delivery, all under data processing agreements and stored in the EU/EEA where possible.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept until you delete your account. Usage statistics are kept for up to 25 months. Unsubscribed emails are kept only as a suppression record so we never contact you again.
Your rights
You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a copy of your data, and object to processing. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
